SULFUR, La. (KPLC) – Multiple claims have been filed against Holly Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Employees who spoke to Seven News on condition of anonymity described unsanitary and dangerous conditions.
“Residents and employees are basically left to suffer,” said an anonymous employee.
Employees posted images and videos from inside the facility on social media to support their claims.
“We complained about what was being done, but our complaints remained unanswered,” the employee said.
Some of those complaints were echoed during an inspection of the facility in June. The citation was observed: “The facility failed to protect the resident's right to be free from neglect.”
This comes after it was discovered that Holly Hill did not have adequate incontinence briefs for residents.
“We didn't have diapers on. When we told Michael we didn't have diapers, he said, 'Get creative,'” the employee said.
According to the report, an employee was seen combining several briefs because they didn't fit. The same report details a shortage of washcloths and towels for residents.
Another finding from the June inspection outlined delays in treatment for patients with broken legs. It shows that an X-ray was ordered for the resident, but it wasn't done until four days later.
“Wow, the state comes there more than 10 times a year,” the employee said.
Previous inspections have identified inadequate funding for residents, allegations of physical and sexual abuse, and neglect of patient care.
“As a human being and working in a nursing home, you have to have some kind of compassion. It hurts to see these people suffer and nothing is done,” said the employee. said.
We have reached out to Holly Hill House for comment. I tried to talk to the administrator, but the only response I got was the following:
“We appreciate the opportunity to hear your concerns regarding the quality of care and services provided to our residents. We thoroughly investigate all allegations and will take the necessary steps to resolve concerns. The safety and security of our residents and staff is our top priority.”
Additionally, the facility has been fined more than $93,000 by the federal government over the past three years.
