Pharmacy services provider Advanced Rx has announced a partnership with pain management digital health company Sure Med Compliance, giving Advanced Rx exclusive access to Sure Med Compliance’s Perspectives in Care (PiC) to ensure appropriate risk-benefit analyses are determined and recorded when controlled substances are dispensed.
PiC advances clinical understanding of medical law, educates healthcare professionals on new pain treatment methods, and helps life sciences companies bring new products to market.
The alliance aims to reduce the human and economic harms associated with the improper prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances, particularly opioids.
Sure Med Compliance also plans to collaborate with Advanced Rx on other commercial support ventures aimed at expanding market share within healthcare provider networks.
“[Sure Med Compliance’s]innovative solutions align perfectly with our commitment to optimizing patient care. By working together, we can empower healthcare providers with the tools and resources they need to deliver excellent care while keeping patient safety top of mind. This collaboration strengthens our joint efforts to combat the opioid crisis and ensure a more responsible approach to pain management,” Advanced Rx CEO Jeff Azevado said in a statement.
SureMed says limited access to appropriate pain treatment is a driving force behind the current stage of the opioid epidemic.
“Ensuring that everyone on a patient’s care team has the data they need to make safe and appropriate prescribing and dispensing decisions can dramatically improve outcomes,” John Bowman, CEO of Sure Med Compliance, said in a statement.
“Partnering with the nation’s leading pharmacy service provider expands our reach and ultimately helps save lives. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Advanced Rx and applaud their efforts as they work to help solve this devastating health crisis.”
Bowman told MobiHealthNews that recent litigation has required pharmacists to provide a lot of additional information before dispensing controlled substances, and Sure Med Compliance automates much of that process.
