Pembrokeshire charities providing end-of-life care are granted a grant of £10,000.
Paul Sartrihospice, at his home, received funding from the James Tudor Foundation to help with the costs of the registered nursing team.
The charity provides palliative care to patients across the county, with the overall cost of services exceeding £200,000 a year.
The charity offers a holistic approach to end-of-life care, including home care, complementary therapy, bereavement and counseling support, physical therapy, future care planning, and training.
Each year, teams provide thousands of hours of day and night rest care, allowing patients to receive the support they need from home.
Registered nurses at Paul Sartori play an important role in this support and help bridge the gaps in local palliative care services.
They conduct assessments, promote referrals to other services, work with healthcare providers, and provide expert advice.
We also support symptoms management, medication management and charity's 24/7 on-call services, providing immediate assistance in emergencies.
“We've been working hard to get a lot of money,” said Laura Hagman, clinical team manager at Paul Sartori Hospice, who is at home.
“Our nurses support the highest standards of caring care and prioritize dignity and quality of life.
“Access to registered nurses at night means patients and their families can receive prompt support without delay.”
Judith Williams, director of grant development at his home Paul Sartori Hospice, expressed his appreciation from the charity for the grant.
She said:
“Their support helps us maintain nursing services, a lifeline for many families facing the challenges of end-of-life care.
“Our nurses have a huge impact, reduce stress and provide much-needed comfort.”
