Jersey Charitable Society has distributed over £85,000 in grants to local charities in the third quarter of 2024.
Following the latest meeting of the Grants Committee in September, a total of £86,268 has been awarded by the AJC as part of the third quarter 2024 grant.
The latest quarterly distribution includes grants totaling £60,000 from profits from the Channel Islands Lottery.
£30,000 for family nursing and home care to support staff costs for falls and frail health workers £30,000 to Sanctuary Trusts to support staff costs
In addition, a further £26,268 from individual donations was distributed to charities.
Jill Ryan, AJC Grants Committee Chair, commented on the latest round of grants: Therefore, we are pleased that AJC is able to make a significant donation this quarter so that FN&HC and Sanctuary Trust can continue to provide vital services in our communities. As we near the end of the year and look ahead to 2025, we're wondering how people can support charities through one-off or recurring donations and help continue the incredibly valuable work on the island. It's a good time to think. ”
Sara Tumelty, general manager of the Sanctuary Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support from the AJC. This year, their funding will cover the salary of one of our essential support workers. Unable to perform essential tasks Our support workers, based at Sanctuary House, also extend their work into the local community and provide support to individuals who have transitioned into independent accommodation. This aspect of the effort is critical because it represents the most effective strategy to prevent homelessness from returning.”
