Munson Healthcare Manistee Sleep Disorders Center has maintained accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for caring for people with sleep disorders for 10 consecutive years.
Dr. Craig Voss, director of Munson Healthcare Manistee Sleep Disorders Center, called the recognition an honor.
“This truly reflects the dedication of the entire staff at Munson Healthcare Manistee Sleep Disorders Center to providing excellent care to all patients with sleep disorders,” Voss said in a news release.
AASM-accredited sleep centers are unique in that they can provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for a variety of sleep-related issues, including obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy.
“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates Munson Healthcare Manistee Sleep Disorders Center for meeting the rigorous standards required to maintain accreditation for sleep services,” AASM President Dr. Eric Olson said in a news release. “AASM accreditation is the gold standard in sleep care and provides confidence and peace of mind to patients seeking treatment for their sleep disorders.”
To achieve and maintain accreditation for five years, sleep disorders centers must meet or exceed all AASM standards for specialized medical care.
Criteria include key areas such as personnel, facilities and equipment, policies and procedures, data collection, patient care, and quality assurance.
Accredited centers must have clear goals aimed at improving the quality of health care in their communities. AASM first accredited sleep disorders centers in 1977. There are more than 2,300 AASM-accredited sleep centers nationwide.
