BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One person was sent to a local hospital after a fire at a home on Media Drive on Tuesday, fire officials said.
According to the Bowling Green Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday for a fire in the laundry room of a single-family home.
Firefighters arrived three minutes later to find heavy smoke throughout the home and flames coming from a side window, police said.
Fire officials said one victim was found during a search of the home within two minutes and two seconds of arriving.
The patient was extricated, treated and transferred to Med Center EMS who transported him to a local hospital.
The fire was under control by 10:03 p.m., according to fire officials. A total of 22 firefighters were called to the scene.
The fire department also released the following statement on Facebook:
“If you see an increase in recruit classes and requests for additional BGFD fire stations in the future, that’s why. We strive to get to the scene as quickly as possible and have enough firefighters on each vehicle to get the job done. That means keeping water on the fire while also performing important search and rescue operations like we completed on this fire. It’s important to have enough personnel on hand to respond whenever needed, and we will continue to strive to do what’s best for our community.”
