CT, Trumbull (WFSB) – More than 100 nursing home patients were evacuated from a Trumbull facility last week.
St. Joseph's Center took an emergency evacuation on Friday, according to the Trumbull Fire Department.
A total of 107 patients were evacuated as what the firefighter S described as “a serious obstacle identified in the building's fire life safety system.”
“During the ongoing safety assessment, facility leadership worked with fire safety experts and local governments to identify serious defects that were classified as “conditions that are immediately dangerous to life and health,” the firefighter said. “These failures undermine the building's ability to ensure the protection of residents and staff in the event of a fire or related emergency.”
State and local agencies helped carry out evacuations.
Resident families were notified by nursing home staff.
“As relocation efforts progress, updates will continue to be provided,” the fire service former said. “A further updates will be provided when it becomes available.”
