As President Donald Trump's second day inauguration approached, there were swirling questions about the medical device industry about how his new administration would affect MedTech's policies and regulations.
The industry doesn't have to wait too long as major developments have occurred in just a few days.
Since Trump took office in late January, several Food and Drug Administration web pages have been deleted (and restored). Employees were fired (and some were returned) from the Device and Radiation Health Center. The Department of Health and Human Services has then announced plans to fire around 10,000 employees, including around 3,500 in the FDA.
Meanwhile, the economy was whipped for an unpredictable and aggressive tariff strategy. But then the pieces were delayed or returned.
In just a few months, the Trump administration has reshaped the Medtech industry significantly and potentially long term. Now that Trump has settled into power, new questions have arisen about what many changes mean for businesses and patients, and what comes next.
