West Point, Michigan (WCBI) – Easter eggs hunt in spring outfits, go to churches, and Easter has several traditions.
West Point Nursing Home in Dugan celebrated Easter a little early with residents.
“They took us to church alone, with music alone,” said resident's daughter Mary Anne Wilson.
Dugan Home gave residents a taste of Sunday service on Good Friday.
To celebrate the Christian holiday, staff formed a choir and performed for the residents.
Some residents, like Mary Evelyn Robison, are unable to leave the nursing home.
So they look forward to the events brought to them.
“Yeah, it was great service. It took home memories I had. It was really good,” Robison said.
Robison said the service reminded her of her childhood.
“When I grew up, Easter was always celebrated and we were taught what it means. And my grandma took her little child with her to church and she explained it all,” Robison said.
Good Friday is observed two days before Easter Sunday.
“Good Friday is for what mankind did to Jesus, not Good Friday, but for what Jesus did for humanity,” said Jerry Mitchell.
Robison's daughter, Mary Anne Wilson, said she was grateful that Dugan had brought them a church.
“It was good for the residents because they can no longer go to church, and we are now able to participate in communion, share our faith and worship God,” Wilson said.
Some residents also shared their music choices.
The choir, the praises of Dugan, performed for the Henry Clay Retirement Home on Good Friday.
