POrk County, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee (FWC) helped find a missing man from a nursing home in Poinciana.
The FWC said the man went missing from the nursing home on Saturday, April 12th. That night, the old man had entered a wooded area near the facility.
The FWC said Polk County Sheriff's deputies called them early Sunday morning to help them find the man.
The search crew was able to find the man using drones, K9s and aviation units, and eventually managed to track him down along the stream. The FWC said one of the officers called the man's name and he rose about 25 yards from the location.
The FWC said the crew was able to use chainsaws and machetes to save the man from the thick brush and was taken to hospital for evaluation.
“This operation underscores the potential for rapid and coordinated actions under harsh conditions to save lives,” said Major General Evan Raskovsky, FWC Southwest Regional Commander.
