Founded in 2022, Frontline Medical Group, LLC, a healthcare staffing company, provides home care, nursing, skilled rehabilitation and hospital services, redefines the industry by prioritizing both frontline healthcare workers and clients who provide services. Unlike traditional institutions that take large overhead costs, frontline healthcare groups operate on a streamlined, remote-based model.
Founded by Reina Aufiero, a practice bedside nurse with almost 20 years of experience and a proud Filipino heritage, the institution was born out of the harsh reality they witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Frontline has expanded beyond Massachusetts to New England, providing ethical and sustainable staffing solutions to healthcare providers.
Frontline's business model features a remote work model and outsourcing management task, which aims to send billing charges directly to frontline healthcare professionals, significantly reducing overhead costs. This structure can help healthcare workers earn money without the need for excessive overtime and may improve both the quality of care they provide to their patients. “Our model works in a sustainable way for our employees,” says Aufiero. “When healthcare workers are overworked and underestimated, patient care is struggling. This model has allowed healthcare workers to pay what they deserve while maintaining reasonable costs for their clients. That's how you can bring long-term success in this industry.”
Additionally, Frontline maintains a rigorous review process to ensure that only highly qualified and experienced nurses, physical therapists, and certified nursing assistants are placed in their clients. The agency emphasizes comprehensive screening, training, and ongoing support to maintain exceptional care standards. This saves healthcare facilities the time and money associated with having to hire contracted healthcare workers.
Aufiero's decision to launch Frontline Medical Group was very personal. As a nurse in the lung/medical surgery unit at Covid's peak, she witnessed the full impact of the pandemic not only in the hospital but also at home. While caring for critically ill patients, she also had a tendency to be a whimsical mother and visually impaired sister. “The world saw statistics, but we nurses saw reality,” she says. “Nurse not only dealing with unprecedented stress at work, but many people were putting a personal burden on their homes. We showed up every day, but the system wasn't built to support us.”
Meanwhile, Aufiero saw travel nurses pay only a small fraction of the agency's billing rate, but hospitals struggled with a surge in staffing costs. Recognizing the unsustainable nature of the system, she developed a business model that benefits both frontline healthcare workers and healthcare providers.
As the healthcare industry continues to tackle the national nursing shortage, which has been exacerbated by widespread burnout, there is a growing demand for high quality, reliable care. Frontline Medical Group specializes in home health aides for registered nurses (RNS), licensed practical nurses (LPNS), physical therapists (PT), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and home health aides for home health providers. The agency's rigorous review process allows clients to receive healthcare professionals with strong clinical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a home environment.
“We provide a variety of staffing for different types of facilities, but we specialize in home care,” explains Aufiero. “Unlike hospitals where healthcare workers can access immediate support, home care healthcare workers need to be highly skilled and resourceful. We only place people who are truly prepared for the challenges of this role.”
Currently serving several major clients in Massachusetts, Frontline is expanding further throughout New England. As it expands, the company is actively seeking new partnerships with home health providers, tailoring to the value of ethical staffing, fair wages and high quality patient care.
