Palos Heights, Illinois – A head housekeeper at a subsidized living facility has been accused of stealing the identity of a former resident and winning thousands of dollars in shopping around the southern suburbs. DeMonte Williams, 33, of Country Club Hills, is charged with aggravated identification of theft on a victim over the age of 60.
Palos Heights Police received the report on March 12th. There, seniors reported multiple claims for checking accounts. Purchases were made at various companies in the southern suburbs. The resident told police he came to the Paros Heights facility from another facility in Hazel Crest, where he lived for 10 years.
Investigators went to various companies where the purchase was made and elicited videos of suspicious fraud transactions. In each video, the same person, later identified as Williams, was purchased and captured, police said.
With the support of other local law enforcement officials, Paros Heights Police identified Williams as a temporary suspect living in Country Club Hills.
On Friday, Palos Heights investigators went to the supplementary facility in Hazelcrest. Police said staff could confirm Williams' identity as the facility-wide housekeeping manager.
Williams happened to be working at the time and was taken into custody safely. Police said Williams had an elderly man's bank card at the time of his arrest.
A man from County Club Hills was interviewed and allegedly admitted to bringing fraudulent accusations on the man's cards.
Williams was formally billed, processed and released. His case has been assigned to Bridgeview Court.
