LUBOC, Texas (KCBD) – At Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center, students want to see what their future career paths will look like.
That's why Lubbock's Hill and Ioppolo Oral and Dental Implant Surgery held their annual Health Care Pathway event on Thursday.
Professionals from surgeons to nurses provided important information on how to plan for their future and how they could navigate their careers.
Robert Ioppolo of DDS says it's a great opportunity to learn about a variety of occupations.
“God makes each of us unique, and we are bent, right?” Ioppolo said. “I sometimes tell you, but maybe I don't tell you to me or the guy next to me, right? We run the range and let everyone know what we can and what we can do with these speakers. We try to show it, so there are many expressions within all different fields to be able to be exposed to these different possibilities and see what actually resonates with them. ”
Lubbock High senior Sadie Callison says nursing resonates with her. She will attend the University of Alabama in the fall and will major in field.
“I think it's cool to hear all the lessons they have to learn, and how they reached where they are today, whenever you're looking at a bigger picture, Because that's really scary,” Karison said. “It's great to know that they are the kind of students they've come to learn from other professionals.”
Lubbock High Senior Sellah Harris has decided to become a nurse practitioner and anesthesiologist.
“I'm most excited to help people,” Harris said. “Helping people makes you feel better and making others happy, especially those who can't take care of themselves really happy.”
These experts hope that the event will create a pathway for students and ultimately bring about change in the healthcare field.
“If I want to go here, if this is my goal, what do I need to do to make my second year, my third year, my fourth year, my standout fourth year?” Ioppolo said. “I'm going to apply to this one location, dental school, medical school, nursing school, and with thousands of other kids. Everyone needs to be smart and everyone qualifies for this. There are, but how do I stand out? How do I enroll in this class?
