One of the most exciting progress of medicine is genetic treatment, which is a genetic treatment. This is a treatment that changes human DNA to treat or treat diseases caused by genetic mutation.

For example, genetic treatment is promising in the treatment of sickle -shaped red blood cell disease, which is a serious genetic blood disorder. It is caused by the mutation of a gene that helps make hemoglobin, a protein of red blood cells that carry oxygen. With this mutation, hemoglobin sticks together and forms a sickle -like cells that can block blood flow and cause pain.

Approximately 100 million people around the world have the characteristics of sickle red blood cells, but this disease only occurs when both parents give them. In some Africa, where the disease is common, up to 20 % of people may be affected.

Gene therapy can fix the incorrect genes of the patient's cells and lead to significant improvements in health. In some cases, the patient is completely cured. This same approach can also be used to treat other genetic disorders, such as cystic fibrosis and duchaennes muscles, and provides new treatments.

The understanding of genome and improving the role in health and illness can provide treatment like genetic treatment. This is one of the most potential applicants of genomics that exceeds the disease prevention and diagnosis.
