Navigating the healthcare industry

To inform administrators and healthcare providers, Healthcare Brew covers drug development, healthcare startups, emerging technologies, and how they impact hospitals and healthcare providers.

New year, new goals.

To kick off 2025, Healthcare Brew reached out to leaders in the healthcare industry to find out what they're brewing for 2025.

They each shared plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies to make care smoother and more accessible.

This interview has been lightly edited for length and clarity.

Chris McKee, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

In 2025, we are focused on responsibly executing on our goals for new and improved clinical facilities to meet growing patient demand and state-of-the-art research facilities to enable breakthrough research discoveries. I will continue to do so. We will work to ensure our plans remain at the cutting edge, taking into account new enabling tools such as AI and the latest innovative cancer treatments. Externally, we will continue to deepen our relationships with domestic partners to provide the highest quality cancer care and an increase in new clinical trials to patients across the country.

Andrew Trister, Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, Verily

In 2025, Verily will continue to focus on applications that connect disparate data, build AI infrastructure, and demonstrate the value of insights gained from these data to drive more personalized healthcare. I'm going. Areas of focus include the launch of Lightpath, a next-generation care solution, expansion of research solutions including Verily Workbench, and expansion of wastewater testing efforts. We continue to evolve our data platform to help our customers deploy more personalized insights and actions across their workflows, while providing the governance, auditability, and security required by the healthcare industry.

Brian Evancho, President and CEO, Cigna Healthcare, Vice President and CFO, Cigna Group

Looking ahead to 2025, one of the areas I am focused on in my role is to use data, analytics, and AI capabilities to help our customers care about their health and access the most effective care. It's important to make more use of it. We know that bone and joint pain is the biggest driver of healthcare spending, with total hip and knee replacements expected to increase significantly. We are working to build advanced predictive models to accurately identify customers at high risk for future musculoskeletal surgery and connect those customers to physical therapy and other minimally invasive treatments. Looking ahead, we are excited about the potential to leverage data and insights to extend our cutting-edge clinical capabilities into other high-cost areas, ultimately improving the health and vitality of the people we serve. I am.
