The Illinois State University Board of Trustees has approved a naming rights agreement between Illinois State Athletics and OSF HealthCare to rebrand the indoor practice facility as the OSF HealthCare Athletics Training Center.

“OSF Healthcare is a great supporter of our department and the student-athletes who use this facility to train and strive for championships,” Interim Director of Athletics Jeri Beggs said. “The OSF Healthcare Athletics Training Center continues to be a great asset to Redbird Athletics and will soon be a great resource for our community as well.”
In August 2023, a five-year agreement was announced making OSF HealthCare the official health care provider for Illinois State Athletics. As part of this agreement, OSF HealthCare will provide Redbird student-athletes with access to athletic trainers, sports medicine providers, orthopedic surgeons, and behavioral health specialists.
Inducted into Percy Family Hall of Fame Class
The Illinois State Athletics Percy Family Hall of Fame class of 2024 was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during a homecoming ceremony over the weekend.
This class included Tami Baalke '93 (women's basketball), a two-time All-Gateway Conference first-team selection and the 1990 Freshman of the Year. Matt Brown '12 (football), Illinois' all-time leading passer and 2012 Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Anderson Devonish '18 (men's track and field), 13-time Missouri Valley Conference champion and school record holder. and Sami (King) Geringer ’15 (gymnastics), a four-time NCAA regional qualifier and Midwest Independent Conference champion.
Tom LaMonica (MA'88), a longtime Illinois State Athletics staff member, also received the Campbell “Stretch” Miller Award. This award recognizes the contributions of those whose primary activity at Illinois State University was not as an athlete or coach, but who played an important role in the success of the athletics program. .
Gymnast Mack is selected as an osteologist.
Illinois State University gymnast Jay Mack was one of 14 students selected as a 2024-25 Robert G. Vaughn Scholar, the highest university-wide honor bestowed on undergraduate students.
“The Robert G. Vaughn Scholarship reflects both my hard work and the unwavering support from my family, professors, coaches, and friends,” Mack said. “As a Black female student-athlete, I have rarely seen someone who looks like me recognized for their accomplishments in both fields. This award means so much to me and not just me. , it's also meaningful to all the young girls who might see a future in me.”
She is a three-time NCAA regional qualifier and maintains a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in interior design.
Zlatanovic selected as 2024 MVC Graduate Scholarship recipient
Former Illinois State tennis standout Tijana Zlatanovic ’23 was one of four Missouri Valley Conference student-athletes to receive $5,000 graduate scholarships for their exemplary academic and athletic performance. Redbird student-athletes set section GPA records
Illinois State University student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom, with the Redbirds compiling a new undergraduate record (excluding the 2020 COVID-19 semester) grade point average (GPA) of 3.45 for the spring 2024 semester. Ta. A total of 344 Redbird student-athletes were selected to the Honor Roll, and a total of 133 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
Schrock is selected as an Academic All-American.
Former Redbird women's golfer Ali Schrock '23 has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American for the third year in a row. Schrock earned a spot on the 2024 CSC First Team after being named to the Third Team in 2022 and the Second Team in 2023.
She becomes the fourth Redbird player in school history to earn three Academic All-America honors, joining former men's basketball standout Doug Collins '73 and cross country/track standout Stacia Beste. In 2001, MS2003 joined the list that included JD. Lafayette '19.
Schrock is the 23rd student-athlete in Illinois history and the first from the women's golf program to earn Academic All-America First Team honors. She was also named the 2023-24 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Women's basketball state finals will remain in Illinois until 2029
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA), Illinois, and the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau have agreed to a five-year contract extension to host the IHSA Girls Basketball State Finals at CEFCU Arena through the 2029 state championship.
Horton Field House hosted the first IHSA Girls Basketball State Finals in 1977. The 2025 IHSA Girls Basketball State Finals will be held March 6-8, 2025.
